Gatlinburg Veteran’s Day Observance

On November 11th, the city of Gatlinburg will be holding its traditional observance of Veteran’s Day at Rocky Top Sports World for 2020. Masks and social distancing practices will be encouraged or may be required for all attendees, but otherwise it is a welcome return to tradition in the Smoky Mountains as we near the end of 2020 and re-establish our commitment to honoring veterans past and present in East Tennessee.

Gatlinburg.com writes:

“For more than 20 years, Gatlinburg has celebrated Veterans Day with a tribute to honor the United States Military service members and veterans. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Day National Committee recognizes the ceremony as an official Regional Site for the Observance of Veterans Day. This year’s ceremony will take place at the Rocky Top Sports World.

The ceremony will feature special performances and appearances by the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Band, the American Legion Post 202 Honor Guard, distinguished vocalist Jay Teter and a dramatic presentation by the American Eagle Foundation. Retired Gatlinburg Police Department Captain Jim Maples will present the POW-MIA Table/Invocation.

The event is free to the public.”
